Jackie Gatwood, descendant of Isaac Campbell says that this son is HARDY and he married Sally Duff. Isaac's brother-in-law was named Hardy Williams and he may have named his son after him. Isaac also had a brother named Hiram who lived next door to him on the 1850 Perry Co. census and he could have named his son after him. The name is HIRAM on the 1850 Census. There is a Hardy Campbell on the 1870 Owsley census, b. 1837, m. to a Sarah.

Although his Civil War Pension Record has date of death as Mar. 8, 1910, the actual Death Record on Ancestry.com has March 2nd. Jacob died of paralysis at the home of Samuel Hacker, his son-in-law.

Not sure of this connection. In the Civil War Pension Record of this Jacob Gabbard, it states that he was married only once and itwas to Elizabeth Peters.

In his Civil War Pension Record, in an affidavit stamped July 9, 1909, Richard stated that he had always been taught that "Tyre" was the correct way to spell his family name and that it was by mistake that it had been spelled "Tyra".
Also in 1909, he stated that his several places of residence since the war were Buck Creek, Booneville, and Major, KY in Owsley County. He lived in Booneville at the time of his enlistment. His description in 1909 was; 5 feet 4 inches tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, and light hair.
He served in companies A, C, and E of the 14th KY Cavalry, from April 1862 to Mar 1864. He is listed on the1890 Special Schedule of Surviving Union Veterans in Owsley County.

In his Civil War Pension Record, in an affidavit stamped Jun 5, 1909, Richard states that his birth date was recorded in his father's Family Bible and transferred into his own Family Bible, which H. C. Combs. Clerk of Owsley County, certified as genuine, but his Death Certificate has April 27.

Although the Civil War Pension Record gives date of marriage as Dec. 1st, the Kentucky Marriage Records, 1852-1914 has Nov. 28th on the registry.

BOONEVILLE, KY 15 August 1992 Laura Thomas, age 76, died August 15, 1992 at the Central Baptist Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of the Indian Creek Presbyterian Church. A native of Owsley County, she was the daughter of John and Jane More McDaniel.

She is survived by her husband, Clay Thomas of Booneville; two daughters, Lita Ciancole, Winter Park, FL; Lela M. Keller, Lone, KY; seven sons, Stanley and Lowell of Newport, Paul, J. B. and Jimmy Ray of Booneville; Silas of Chesapeake, VA and Herman of Jacksonville, FL.

Also surviving are three brothers, Henry McDaniel, Hamilton, OH; Fred McDaniel, Southgate, KY and Herman McDaniel, Alexandria, KY; 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 18, at the Indian Creek Presbyterian Church with Rev. Joe Powlas officiating. Burial was in the Gabbard Cemetery with Searcy and Strong Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

From The Chronicle, Scottsburg Indiana, 15 Mar 1956 "James L. Sizemore Dies At Home Of Sister James Logan Sizemore, age 68, died March 8th at the home of his sister, Mrs. Maggie Marshall of Austin after an illness of three weeks. He was the son of William and Polly Sizemore, deceased, and came to Scott County from Kentucky about 14 years ago. He had been employed at the Morgan plant for about 12 years. Surviving him are brothers Morton and Lewis Sizemore of Kentucky and three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Marshall, Austin, Mrs. Nellie Peters of Batesville and Mrs. Rachel Bratten of Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral services Sunday, Mar 11th at the Pilgrim Holiness Church were conducted by Rev. Rief. Burial was at the Austin cemetery in charge of Buchanan and Taff home." --

Westmoreland County Land Records, Bk 2; Mar 11, 1728 Daniel Thomas and his brother secured a warrant for 300 A. in Stafford County. Nov 16 1731 they jointly obtained 300 A. in Prince William County that were subsequently divided equally between them by order of the court. After 1742 all of their lands were in Fairfax County. Daniel Thomas was next living in Fairfax Co. as a freeholder. In 1744 he voted for representatives for the House of Burgesses -Virginia Freeholders by Lang.
