MIDDLETOWN, OH - 1 March 1992 - Jessie Bowling Taylor, 63, passed away on March 1, 1992 at her residence apparently of cancer. She was a native of Owsley County, the daughter of Elisha and Dorothy Bowling.

She is survived by her husband, Wilgus Taylor of Middletown; a daughter, Faye Gibson, Middletown; two sons, Larry lee Taylor, Cincinnati, OH; Gary Wayne Taylor, Middletown; six grandsons; and three granddaughters.

Also surviving are five sisters, Georgia Barrett, Mary Bishop, Sarah Goodman and Lola Bowling, all of Booneville; and Alice Tipton of CA; three brothers, Fred Bowling, Cincinnati, OH; Paul Bowling, Middletown, OH; and Wilburn Bowling, Booneville. Also surviving are three half-sisters, Mona McDaniel, Booneville; Barbara Givens and Dosha Bowling, both of Middletown; four half-brothers Ronnie Bowling, Elisha Bowling, Jr., Roy Bowling and Andy Bowling, all of Middletown; one step-sister, Mary Belle Keller of Booneville; and two step-brothers, William Bryant of Manchester, KY; and Robert Bryant of Middletown, OH.

Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4 at Searcy and Strong Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Patterson officiating. Burial was in the Shepherd Memorial Cemetery with Searcy and Strong Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

"The FUGATES came about the same time [as Jacob, Austin, and Henry Neace]. There were four brothers of the Fugates, viz.: Jonathan, Eli, Levi, and Zachariah. Eli and Levi were soldiers in the Revolutionary War. They both drew pensions."
Zachariah, Benjamin, Martin, and Jonathan all appear on the first Clay County Tax List in 1807.
