INDEX
William married Mary McCollum, probably the sister of Rachael, who married Elisha Thomas. Mary & Rachael's father lived 4 dwellings from Marchant on 1830 Clay County, KY Census. Daniel McCollum, who lived 3 dwellings from Marchant signed
the marriage bond for William & Mary. William showed up on the Clay County Tax List for the first time in 1830. It was most likely he who signed
the marriage bond for John Wilson & Mary Thomas, Marchant's daughter, in 1830. William and brother, Elisha, went to Platte County, MO with the McCollums about 1840. William may have died in the Mexican War as did his brother-in-law, Perry. And Elisha, returned to Owsley County KY.
Depending on the year he was born, William could have been born in Georgia or Kentucky. Marchant was in Georgia until about 1808. According to the Funeral Home record for daughter, Nancy, William was born in NC, but on the 1880 Linn County, Missouri census, Nancy says Kentucky. If in fact William was born 1801-1810, he would not be born in NC since the Marchant Thomas family had left the SC/NC area by then.
William may have died in the Mexican War (1846-1848), as did his brother-in-law, Perry McCollum.

William first appears on the Clay Co. Tax List in 1830, making him born 1808/09.

Last child was born 1844, wife's 2nd marriage was c.1848.
