Perry died [in the Mexican War] and is buried in Santa Fe, NM. Died from the measles and fever, buried in mass grave - Gary McCollum, grt grt g/s of Perry.

Although Oscar D. McCollum, Gary McCollum, & Mary Ann Anglin have the birth date as April 19, 1813, Perry's Service Record states that he was 32 years old when he enlisted in Aug. of 1846.

According to Gary McCollum, Perry died Sep 6, 1847, but on the military muster roll card (date ending Dec 31, 1846), Perry was sick in his quarters, and on the roll card, dated Jan - Apr 1847, it was noted that he died in the hospital Feb. 9, 1847. The Muster-Out Roll has death date as July 7, 1847.

Although Oscar D. McCollum has this marriage as taking place in Linn County, MO, an affidavit of Perry's brother, George, in the Civil War Pension Record of his son, William, states otherwise. The marriage was performed by their Uncle William Morris in Clay County and his father, David, had come after the Mexican War to retrieve the marriage documents from William Morris' records.
