To the Clerk of Clay County
This is to surtyfy that Hereto I do set my
and hand and agree and concent for you to grant
lisans for my daughter Elizabeth and
Isaac Thomas in a marrieg contract given under
our hands this 10th day January 1827.

The Marriage Bond



Know all men by these present that we
Isaac Thomas & William Riley acknowledge ourselves
indebted unto the commonwealth of Kentucky
in the sum £50 which payment well &
truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of our heirs
Jointly and severally firmly by these presents
Sealed with our seals and dated this 15th day of
January 1827
          The condition of the above
obligation is such that where the above nam
-ed Isaac Thomas is about a license from
the Clerk of the Clay count for
a marriage intended between said Isaac
& Elizabeth Smith — Now should there be
no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage
then this obligation shall be Void else remain
in full force & Virtue

I Abner Baker Clerk of the County Court of Clay
afsd Certify that on the day of the date
aforesaid bond and security was taken in
my office for a license to issue for a Marria
-ge Intended between Isaac Thomas & Elizabeth Smith.
                        These are therefore
to license and permit you to join together
in the Holy Estate of Matrimony the said
Isaac & Elizabeth — according to the rights —
and ceremonies of your church and for so doing
this shall be your sufficient warrant, given
under my hand and seal this 15th day of January
1827
