Know all men by these presents that we
John S. Johnston & Joseph Thomas acknowledge
ourselves indebted to the commonwealth
of Kentucky in the sum £50 current mo
-ney which payment well and truly to be
made we bind ourselves and each of our heirs
jointly & severally firmly by these presents
sealed with our seal & dated this 17th day
of July 1824 — The condition of the above
obligation is such that whereas the above
bound John S. Johnston is about to obtain
a license for a marriag between the said Johnston
and Catharine Thomas. Now should there be no
lawful cause to obstruct said marriage then
this obligation shall be void else remain in
full force & virtue —
